REF: FOUNDATION STONE LAYING CEREMONY FOR INSTALATION OF FOUR (4) RADARS SYSTEM

 

On 2nd April 2018, His Excellency, the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. John Pombe Joseph Magufuli laid a foundation stone for installation of four (4) radars system to be installed at Julius Nyerere International Airports (JNIA), Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA), Mwanza and  Songwe Airports as part of the national strategy to improve air traffic mnagement in our country.  

 

The event follows the signing of procurement contract between Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) and M/s Thales Las France SAS of France on 22nd August 2017 worth TZS. 67.3 billion. The project shall be financed by the Government of Tanzania from its internal revenue sources.

 

The 18 months project is part of the implementation of the TCAA top priority strategies to improve air traffic management so as to enhance safety, efficiency and security as well as to increase revenue collection.

 

According to the Director General - TCAA, Mr. Hamza S. Johari, the Authority is determined to improve the civil aviation industry in the country to support the government vision of transforming our country into a middle income and industrialized nation by 2025.

 

Furthermore, the project will facilitate the search & rescue operations in case of emergency or air accidents enable the country to meet the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards and guidelines while continuing to maintain confidence in on its air navigation services the region.

 

In addition, improvements of our airspace surveillance system and air navigation services will attract and increase tourism, create more jobs and boost our economy.

 

The Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) is a corporate body, established under the Civil Aviation Act, CAP 80 (R.E 2006). The Act mandates the Authority to regulate economic, safety and security aspect of the civil aviation industry as well as providing air navigations services in the United Republic of Tanzania.

 

Air navigation services are provided at 14 stations namely Dar es Salaam, Kilimanjaro,Tanga, Arusha, Mwanza, Tabora, Kigoma, Dodoma, Iringa, Songwe, Songea, Mtwara, Zanzibar and  Pemba.

Rais wa Jamhuri ya Muungano wa Tanzania, Mhe. Dkt. John Pombe Joseph Magufuli, tarehe 2 Aprili 2018 ameweka jiwe la msingi katika mradi wa usimikaji wa mfumo wa rada nne(4) za kuongozea ndege zitakazofungwa katika Kiwanja cha Kimataifa cha Julius Nyerere, Uwanja wa Kimataifa wa Kilimanjaro, Kiwanja cha  Mwanza na Songwe  ikiwa ni sehemu ya mkakati wa  kuboresha miundombinu na sekta nzima ya usafiri wa anga nchini.

 

Jiwe hili la msingi linawekwa kufuatia utiwaji saini wa mkataba wa manunuzi baina ya Mamlaka ya Usafiri wa Anga Tanzania (TCAA)  na kampuni  ya M/s Thales Las France SAS  ya Ufaransa , tarehe 22 Agosti 2017 wenye thamani ya  Shilingi Bilioni 67.3 na unaogharimiwa na serikali kwa asilimia 100 kutoka vyanzo vyake vya ndani bila mkopo.

 

Mradi huu unatarajiwa kukamilika katika kipindi cha miezi 18 tangu ulipoanza kutekelezwa ikiwa ni sehemu ya utekelezaji wa vipaumbele vya Serikali na  Mamlaka ya Usafiri wa Anga (TCAA) kuiimarisha sekta ya usafiri wa anga nchini hususan eneo la ufuatiliaji wa vyombo angani yaani (Surveillance). Maboresho haya yataboresha huduma za uongozaji ndege,  na kuwezesha huduma hiyo kutolewa kwa ufanisi na haraka zaidi..

 

Mkurugenzi Mkuu wa TCAA, Bwana Hamza S. Johari amefafanua kuwa, Mamlaka imedhamiria kuendelea kuboresha sekta ya usafiri wa anga nakuchangia kikamilifu azma ya Serikali ya kuifanya Tanzania kuwa nchi ya viwanda na uchumi wa kati ifikapo 2025.

 

Mradi huu pia utasaidia kurahisisha huduma za utafutaji na uokoaji (search & rescue) kunapotokea ajali za ndege, kutaiwezesha nchi kukidhi viwango na miongozo ya Shirika la Kimataifa la Usafiri wa Anga (ICAO) na kujenga imani ya watumiaji wa anga letu na kuendana na ushindani  katika ukanda wa Afrika na dunia kwa ujumla.

 

Mamlaka ya Usafiri wa Anga Tanzania ina jukumu la kudhibiti sekta ya usafiri wa anga katika Jamhuri ya Muungano wa Tanzania.  Mamlaka iliundwa kwa

Sheria ya Usafiri wa Anga, Sura  ya 80 (R.E 2006).

 

Majukumu ya kisheria ya Mamlaka ni kudhibiti masuala ya ki-usalama, ki-uchumi katika usafiri wa anga  na kutoa huduma za uongozaji ndege.

 

Pia Mamlaka inatoa huduma za uongozaji ndege kwenye vituo vya ndege kumi na nne (14) ambavyo ni: Dar es Salaam, Kilimanjaro,Tanga, Arusha, Mwanza,Tabora,Kigoma, Dodoma, Iringa, Songwe, Songea, Mtwara, Zanzibar na Pemba
