TANZANIA CIVIL AVIATION STAKEHOLDERS MET IN THEIR FIRST NATIONAL FORUM
Tanzania civil aviation stakeholders met for two days in the very first national civil aviation forum held on September 19- 20, 2017 to devise strategies for taking civil aviation industry in Tanzania to the next level, henceforth actively contribute to national vision of making Tanzania an industrialized and middle income national by 2025.
Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority(TCAA) coordinated the forum with its theme being "Taking Civil Aviation Industry in Tanzania to the Apex" whereby more than 150 participants from a cross section of industry stakeholders ranging from policy makers, air operators, ground handlers, training Institutes, airport authority and other government departments related to civil aviation attended.
The Minister of Works, Transport and Communications, Prof. Makame Mbarawa officiated the forum by urging the participants to come up with solutions to address challenges facing the industry as the government is willing to support in any way.
He added that an improved civil aviation has an important role to play as a facilitator of other economic sector, tourism in particular, that contributes significantly to foreign earnings and offer employment.
Speaking on the forum, the DGTCAA Hamza S. Johari expressed his enthusiasm on the forum, saying it was historical event, which give industry players an opportunity to re-define their roles and contribution to the national economy. He appealed to the government to support the output of the forum which aims to come up with performance based action plan
Nine papers were presented. These were on Shortage of Qualified Personnel in Aviation Industry, ICAO-USOAP Coordinator -ICAO ICVM Audit, Financing options for Airport Infrastructure Development, Emergence of Drones and challenges of its Regulations, Hub development concept, ASBU Block 0 implementations and its challenges, The Importance of Ground Handling Services and Challenges Facing it, Contribution of General Aviation to the Economy of Tanzania.
The National Civil Aviation Forum will be held twice per year to facilitate the civil aviation stakeholders to review successes, challenges and develop strategies for enhancing the industry growth.
