DGTCAA PLEDGED TO PROMOTE MOUNT KILIMANJARO TO THE WORLD
The Director General, Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA), Hamza S. Johari, has pledged to promote Mount Kilimanjaro through civil aviation forum so as to attract more tourists in the country.
Speaking during the event of hoisting, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) flag to the highest mountain in Africa for its 75th anniversary, on August 23, he said, the activity has proved to the world that, Kilimanjaro is indeed in Tanzania.
Speaking to flag hoisting execution team of 22, the ICAO East and Southern African Regional Director, Mr. Barry Kashambo, thanked the United Republic of Tanzania for accepting the ICAO request to hoist ICAO flag to the roof of Africa, adding that the activity made a new history that will live on.
The ESAF Regional Director, thanked TCAA and other aviation stakeholders for making sure that, the activity was a success for enhancement of public sensitization on the role of civil aviation towards social and economic wellbeing.
The five days Kilimanjaro climbing via Marangu route for ICAO flag hoisting execution led by Director general TCAA, Mr. Hamza S. Johari, started on August 19- 23, 2019. A team of 22 civil aviation stakeholders from TCAA, Tanzania Airport Authority (TAA), Swissport and Flight links participated. In the climbing.
Out of 22 participants, Director General TCAA and other eight (8) managed to reach the Uhuru peak standing at 5895 M above the sea level. We congratulate Director General and his team for successful ascending of this highest peak in Africa.
