The Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) has committed to implementing strategies aimed at ensuring the sustainability of managing the aviation sector in the country now and in the future.
This was highlighted by TCAA Director General Mr. Salim Msangi during the presentation of these strategies to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Infrastructure on January 15, 2024, in Dodoma.
The strategies include continuing to enforce aviation laws and regulations to ensure Tanzania's airspace remains safe and attractive to various international airlines.
Another focus is preparing for the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) audit by aligning aviation regulations with ICAO standards, updating inspection documents and guidelines to reflect new regulatory changes, and training inspectors to enhance their expertise in conducting inspections and overseeing aviation regulation compliance.
Additionally, the TCAA will conduct internal inspections to assess the capabilities of registered companies in the country, adhering to aviation regulation requirements. The authority also plans to provide ongoing training for pilots, engineers, and other professionals in the aviation sector. Investments in modern air traffic management and communication systems will be made to keep pace with technological advancements and meet ICAO standards and guidelines.
TCAA will strengthen collaboration with neighbouring countries and regional and international organizations by participating in meetings and conferences to exchange experiences. Furthermore, it will promote the adoption of environmentally friendly technologies in the aviation sector to minimize environmental impacts associated with aviation activities.
Efforts will also be made to ensure airports and related infrastructure meet international standards. The authority intends to market the Civil Aviation Training Centre (CATC) to attract both Tanzanians and non-Tanzanians to pursue short-term courses in the aviation sector. It will also continue constructing the Civil Aviation Training Institute to provide a better learning environment with modern equipment.
The committee emphasized the need to oversee these strategies and ensure the completion of the CATC construction project.
