1.1 The Global Market share of the African Air Transport Volume  Africa is one of the biggest continents in the world and is endowed with natural tourist attractions and a range of minerals. In terms of the geographical size and population of people, it is the second largest continent after Asia. It has about 30.3 million square metres of land and 1.5 billion people (statistics of up to 1 August 2023). The population is about 19% of total global figure and the African land is 23% of total land globally.
