The Director General of the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA), Dr. Jabiri K. Bakari, on June 16, 2026 held discussions with the Executive Director of the SADC Aviation Safety Organisation (SASO), Mr. Kabo Phutietsile, at the Authority’s Headquarters in Ukonga Banana, Dar es Salaam.

The discussions focused on introducing SASO’s activities aimed at supporting SADC Member States in strengthening aviation safety and compliance with ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SAPRPs)

The two sides also explored ways of further strengthening the existing cooperation between SASO and TCAA in aviation safety, institutional and human capacity development, and the exchange of technical expertise.

Dr. Bakari underscored the importance of regional collaboration in advancing aviation safety standards and strengthening the capacity of civil aviation authorities within SADC Member States.

The meeting reflects TCAA’s commitment to working closely with regional organizations to enhance aviation safety, operational efficiency and the sustainable development of the aviation sector in Tanzania and across the region.
