The National Civil Aviation Security Committee (NCASC) has conducted an inspection visit to Mikumi, Kogatende and Seronera airstrips, owned and operated by the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA), to assess the infrastructure, operational environment and ongoing security improvements at the facilities.

The inspection, conducted on September 24, 2026, was led by the Chairperson of the National Civil Aviation Security Committee and Director General of the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA), Dr. Jabiri K. Bakari.

During the visit, the Committee assessed measures being implemented to strengthen aviation security and improve the operating environment at the three airstrips. The facilities play an important role in supporting air transport services for tourists travelling to Tanzania’s national parks.

The inspection formed part of NCASC’s mandate to oversee and assess aviation security measures. It also provided an opportunity for the Committee to gain first-hand insight into the condition of the airstrips, review ongoing improvements and identify areas requiring further attention to enhance safety, security and operational efficiency.

The visit underscores the importance of continued collaboration among aviation and tourism stakeholders in maintaining secure and efficient air transport infrastructure within Tanzania’s national parks.
