The Director General of the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA), Dr. Jabiri K. Bakari, on 26 September 2026 received a courtesy visit from the Managing Director of Swissport Tanzania Plc, Mr. Joshua Jonas, at the TCAA Headquarters in Banana, Ukonga, Dar es Salaam. The visit provided an opportunity for Mr. Jonas to introduce himself to the Director General and discuss areas of continued cooperation between Swissport Tanzania and TCAA.
Mr. Jonas expressed his appreciation to TCAA for its continued role in facilitating the development of the aviation industry in Tanzania. He highlighted Swissport Tanzania’s operations at Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) and Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA), noting the company’s commitment to maintaining high standards of service, safety and regulatory compliance.
He further noted that Swissport Tanzania, as an IATA member, had recently successfully undergone its recertification, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining the required industry standards. He also emphasised that the company continues to maintain a high level of compliance with TCAA requirements and holds the necessary accreditations for its operations, from ground handling to other approved aviation services.
On his part, Dr. Bakari congratulated Swissport Tanzania on its continued commitment to compliance and quality service delivery. He assured Mr. Jonas that TCAA will continue to ensure that aviation operators are adequately equipped and kept abreast of emerging requirements and developments in the industry.
Dr. Bakari also briefed Mr. Jonas on the newly introduced Civil Aviation Services Portal (CASP), which is now the platform for accessing TCAA’s regulatory services and conducting related business processes digitally. He urged Swissport Tanzania to make full use of the platform, noting that its adoption will help simplify processes, improve efficiency and enhance service delivery. He also pointed out on the newly established Helpdesk underlining the same to be utilised effectively.
Dr. Bakari added that strengthening digital data management and service delivery is in line with Tanzania’s Vision 2050, which places emphasis on digital transformation and the wider use of technology across sectors.
